After medical school I served my Internship and my first two years of my Internal Medicine Residency in a regional trauma center north of Detroit. My days were filled with the struggles of critical care medicine- trying to stabilize patients so as to get them out of the ICU. Many patients were near the end of their lives and it seemed like if I did a great job they lived two months instead of one month. So many of their ailments were lifestyle related and preventable.
Having seen what causes people to end up in the ICU made me want to learn how to keep them out of there in the first place. I did a preventive medicine rotation and subsequently was accepted into a unique fellowship at Johns Hopkins with dual appointments in Internal Medicine and Clinical Preventive Medicine that emphasized health risk appraisal and lifestyle modification.
My interest in Men’s Health combines the best of these disciplines. Advances in laboratory testing enables us to optimize your endocrine system in ways not possible in the past. Balancing your testosterone and related hormones can greatly enhance the quality of your health and your life.
