Do TRT Treatments Help Reverse Low Testosterone?

Do TRT Treatments Help Reverse Low Testosterone?

We’re asked frequently “Does Testosterone Replacement Therapy Reverse Low Testosterone Symptoms?”

We commonly associate the changes that our bodies go through with being “normal aging”, as if these changes are unavoidable. New evidence contradicts this concept. The stresses of modern life certainly can impact how a person feels physically and emotionally. However, men with low T levels causing symptoms such as low energy, muscle loss, a thickening waistline, and a decreased sex drive in many cases experience a reverse in these symptoms when they receive testosterone therapy. Low testosterone (low T) frequently referred to as andropause is a condition that usually develops over time and with increasing age. Low T affects insulin production, the adrenal glands, and thyroid function because they are all part of the endocrine system. Testosterone declines one percent per year after age thirty. Correcting testosterone deficiency with Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT) often can reverse Low T symptoms, improves blood sugar (insulin), cortisol (stress response), and thyroid function.

After thorough assessment and testing, low T is treated with once weekly injectable testosterone, and one or two other medicines to promote and to add to your body’s natural production of this vital hormone. Each treatment plan is a customized fit for the exact needs of the patient. The good news is that most men feel increased energy after about a week of therapy. In approximately a month many experience loss of fat, a gain in muscle mass, and improved sexual performance. With all of these improvements, you just might notice an improved mood.

Men can maintain vitality well into their elder years with proper medical management. It all starts with an evaluation by a qualified physician. Here’s a report given by one of Dr. VanAntwerp’s patients receiving TRT to help reverse low testosterone:

I have been a patient for many years, and trust the staff at the Laser Center with my care. More recently, and after many years of repetitive occupational stress, I found that I had reached a plateau in my physical conditioning, was generally tired, and had reduced levels of energy.

After careful consultation with me and in review of my lab work, Dr. VanAntwerp started me on a course of testosterone treatment. I have found that I wear my belt on the 4th hole, instead of the first; I have lost fifteen pounds, and have leaned up greatly; and that my energy levels are on the rise again. In addition to the physical benefits described, I have found my mood to be more positive, and have seen phenomenal changes in my blood work – my lipid numbers are significantly better, there has been no change in my PSA score, and overall my blood chemistry is much closer to normal than it has been in a long time. It is well worth looking in to this course of treatment if you are in a rut, work in a stressful occupation, or find yourself a half-step behind how you used to be.

Boarded in internal medicine and in clinical preventive medicine, Dr. Ross VanAntwerp offers careful evaluation and treatment for low T.  Call (410) 844-6654 for a consultation or check out the FAQ’s page for common questions/concerns.
